The data is on a grid with 474 rows and 576 columns. The bottom left corner of the grid is 53.1358333 degrees lat and -3.99875 degrees long. The grid increments are 1/600 for lat and 1/400 for long. The format of the data is written out in is 20f9.2 (-999.99 is land).

The data is validated model output from the coupled POLCOMS-WAM model at formby point. Each file name is related to the date of the surge (MYYYY).The POLCOMS data (ZUV files) is time series of time (Day number),total water elevation (m),u-verlocity (m/s),v-velocity(m/s). The WAM data (htd files) is time series data of time (Day number), wave height (m), peak wave period (s), wave direction (deg), TM02 wave period (s) and mean period (s).

Abstract
POLCOMS model data for storm surges from 1990 to 2008. The 'events' are: Feb 23 - Mar 1, 1990; Feb 1-18, 1997; Dec 12-29, 1997; Dec 14-31, 1998; Nov 21 - Dec 7, 1999; Jan 18 - Mar 3, 2002; Sep 20 - Dec 1, 2002; Jan 2 - 13, 2005 Mar 17 - Apr 04, 2006; Nov 11 - Dec 7, 2006 Jan 06 - 23, 2007; Feb 22 - 29, 2008 Model output: (units: m, m/s, s, degrees); Each file is labelled month then year ‘MMYYYY_’ The hydrodynamics are ‘_zuv’ , 'sur' and the waves ‘_htd’ The 3 points are as follows:1) FP=Formby point ; 2) SP=Southport ; and 3) LI=Liverpool Gladstone Dock The hydrodynamic data is as follows (zuv). For each location the data is provided half hourly. In each file the columns are as follows time, elevation abound mean tidal level, u-velocity and v-velocity. The hydrodynamics are for tide+surge. THE DATUM IS MEAN SEA LEVEL: TO CONVERT TO ODN WE ADD 0.22 CM. The wave data is as follows (htd). For each location the data is provided hourly. In each file the columns are date,Hs,Tp,wave direction,Tm02,Tm01. The data come from the WAM model
