Abstract
Since 1843 the dutch coast is measured. Measured data is used to establish morphological change. It allows to perceive sedimentation and erosion. Since 1963 this information set contains transect data. The data is usually collected from 1000 metre sea inward to the first dune. De JAaRlijkse KUStmetingen (JARKUS) omvatten hoogtemetingen van duin en strand en dieptemetingen van het onderwaterdeel van de kust. Door de hoogte- en dieptemetingen aan elkaar te koppelen, ontstaan volledige kustprofielen. De kustprofielen (momenteel ongeveer 2000 per jaar) worden opgenomen in raaien, denkbeeldige lijnen loodrecht op de kust met een onderlinge afstand van ongeveer 250 meter, langs de gehele Noordzeekust van Cadzand tot Rottummeroog. De resultaten van de JARKUS-metingen worden opgeslagen in het Data Opslagsysteem voor de NAtte Rijkswaterstaat (DONAR), waarin in de loop der jaren een schat aan basisgegevens van de Nederlandse kust is verzameld.

Data obtained from KNMI on DVDs. Data were recorded from KNMI HRPT receving station and processed to mapped L2 products immediately. The service discontued end 2005. Since then KNMI obtains SST products from OSI-SAF ground stations.
