Description

Title: Wind_Blacksea_reanalysis

Dataset: Wind_Blacksea_reanalysis

Abstract: Dataset of modeled (hindcast) wind field (wind direction and wind velocity magnitude) over the Black Sea basin. Calculated from the coarse resolution (2.5x2.5° spatial and 6 hours temporal resolution) SLP reanalysis of ECMWF and NCEP/NCAR global reanalysis projects. Regional atmospheric model is used for downscaling and calculation of geostrophic and surface wind. The model spatial resolution is 0.5 degree and wind fields are obtained at every 3 hours. The model is implemented on a spherical grid (31×14 grid points).

Description

Title: Waves_Westernshelf_hindcast

Dataset: Waves_Westernshelf_hindcast

Abstract: Dataset of modeled (hindcast) field of wave parameters (significant wave height, mean and peak wave period, mean wave angle) for both windsea and swell for the western shelf of the Black Sea. The SWAN Cycle III wave model, version 40.41, is set up for the purpose. The model spatial resolution is 0.0333 degrees (~2′ both in longitude and latitude). The wind forcing comes from the ECMWF and NCEP/NCAR global reanalysis projects. The model is implemented on a spherical grid (33×64 grid points, about 1000 output sea points). Integrated parameters and total sea and swell spectra are obtained at every hour. A digital bathymetric database for the western shelf with ~ 4 km resolution is used. SWAN is nested to WAM. The external boundary conditions are set in terms of significant wave height, mean wave period, and mean wave direction.

Title: Waves_Black Sea_hindcast

Dataset: Waves_Black Sea_hindcast

Abstract: Dataset of modeled (hindcast) field of wave parameters (significant wave height, mean and peak wave period, mean wave angle) for both windsea and swell for the entire Black Sea basin. WAM cycle 4 third-generation wave model is set up for the purpose. The model spatial resolution is 0.5 degrees. The wind forcing comes from the ECMWF and NCEP/NCAR global reanalysis projects. The model is implemented on a spherical grid (31×14 grid points). Integrated parameters and total sea and swell spectra output are obtained at every 3 hours.
