SparseDud is a refinement of Dud (Doesn't use derivative) method. In some cases, certain observation depends only on some calibration parameters, while independent from others. SparseDud makes use of such independencies to determine search directions in the optimization process. In this way, the number of simulation required to find the optimal solution is reduced. Therefore, the calibration process can be faster than Dud.
